Words about empathy from a bitter tongue is merely meant as soapbox rebuke toward those we disagree, dislike, or hate. All the while, feeling empowered by how good we see ourselves, even if our (in)actions (our lack of empathy toward others) prove differently.

Sometimes we can hate someone so much, we cannot see —or we refuse to acknowledge— any good they may do. We want them to fail. We enjoy standing in opposition against them. Even if it means others —including ourselves— may be hurt by the consequences.
