Some verses, passages are sweet. Others are less tasteful. However, we cannot simply dismiss or deny those we dislike or find in conflict with what we believe. One must wrestle with the text, lest they be found guilty of adding to or taking from the Word of God. Desiring our preferred truth does not change Truth.
